The beauty industry sends 877 pounds of waste to the landfill every single minute. We're drastically reducing our waste by recycling all plastics, metals, foils, papers, chemicals, that normally would've gone to the garbage - by taking them to their proper recycling facility.

Today over 42,000 lbs of excess hair chemicals are thrown away every day. When rinsed down the drain, chemicals go straight into our Miami-Dade bay. As a Green Circle Salon, we'll be turning color-waste into clean water and clean energy. Whenever we mix a bit more than needed color or lightener, instead of washing it down the drain, we collect and reuse it! By putting it through an incineration process, chemical waste gets separated from the water (creating CLEAN WATER) and re-infused into power grids to create CLEAN ENERGY!

Today 63,000 lbs of hair gets thrown away every day. Every garbage bag of hair produces greenhouse gases as it tries to break down, which contributes to climate change. As our guest, the hair you get snipped gets a new life. Hair is a great natural resource that can be turned into bio-composite plastic or made into products to be used for insulation and stormwater filtration. As a Green Circle Salon, we don’t let hair become added waste for our landfills to produce CO2. 

Hair salons use a lot of aluminum in their beauty services, now you may not know but aluminum is infinitely recyclable. In North America 110,000 lbs of used metals are thrown away each day, that’s over half the weight of a commercial plane. Traditionally all this aluminum would go to Miami-Dade landfills. Instead, at Ninette Hair Studio we recycle all of our aluminum foils, color tubes, product cans - these are melted down into aluminum sheets and used to make new products like bicycles!

We even minimize the amount of water we use by utilizing eco-friendly showerheads, reducing our water and energy usage by up to 65%. 

We are also partnered with the organization called Climate Partner, which helps offset all carbon emissions from all of our business practices, including client and staff commuting to and from our premises and carbon emissions produced while blow drying hair.
